Hunter PvP Tips: Hunter vs Warlock

Coming up against a Warlock as a Hunter in PvP can be a rather unsettling situation. It's like an Old West showdown. Both classes have ranged damage and both classes have pets. Warlocks can be really, really dangerous and, if you're not careful, you'll be dead before you know what hit you.

Couple big points on Warlocks: Fear. Everyone hates Fear. What's the Warlock's "go to" move? Fear either you or your pet and stack up about a million DOT's. It's really annoying and will get you dead fast. I mean, really, there you are running around totally out of control with a dozen DOT's ticking away your health. Before you've even fired a shot, or before your pet can get once bite in, you're 30% dead. What the heck?

So, a few things to keep in mind when you come across a Warlock in PvP. Assume they are going to Fear you (after all that seems to be their bread and butter) and get a DOT on them as soon as you can. This way you're doing some damage to them while you're running around like an idiot. Depending on your build you may have Bestial Wrath which you should use quickly to avoid your Pet being feared.

Like other finger wigglers if you can keep them taking damage you can interrupt their spell casting. Get your pet on them ASAP and hopefully you'll cause them to miss at least one or two non-instant casts. Depending on your build you may have Bestial Wrath which you should use before sending them to avoid your Pet being feared.

The Warlocks Pets can do some pretty serious damage and are ignored at your peril. Remember most pets will trigger traps so make use of them. Those little guys, the Imps, can hit really rather hard and should be taken out as quickly as you can as they don't have many hit points. If you leave these little guys alone they can easily spell your doom. If you see a Warlock run out without a pet don't be fooled. Chances are they are using a Succubus which can be invisible. These are those dominatrix looking pets that "seduce" you and you wind up standing around with little hearts floating over your head as the Warlock slaughters your pet.

The talent "The Beast Within" is fantastic against Warlocks are it pretty much nullifies their crowd control abilities. If you've got this be sure to unleash everything you've got when it's activated as once it fades you're going to be in trouble.

Bill spends way too much time running Druids, Hunters and Priests around the Battlegrounds and Arenas of World of Warcraft. Chances are you'll find him running amok in game or adding to his websites at WoWDruid.com and HunterPvP.com.
