Hunter PvP Tips: Hunter vs Paladin

Paladins in PvP run around like they own the place and it drives me crazy. They can be massively annoying to fight against and for good reason. Pally's can be really, really tough to take out due to talents, armor, some serious stunning ability, that freaking Laying on a Hands and the infamous "Pally Bubble." All that and they tend to be a pretty smug group which makes it immensely satisfying when you burn one down and drop him. It may sound petty but taking out a Paladin as a Hunter in PvP provides a great deal of pleasure. Maybe I'm just immature but what the heck.

Like with most opponents the trick with taking out a Paladin in the Arena or Battle Grounds is to keep them as far away from you as possible. If it comes down to a fist fight they will have the advantage in almost all cases and you'll get whooped. Make liberal use of your CC style shots and, assuming you've got a good solid PvP pet with a CC or Disarm, keep your pet in their face.

The average Pally is going to have a pretty impressive mana pool and they will use that mana to continually heal themselves. I once fought against a guy with a name like "Killmethrice" and he was rightI had him down to under 5% twice when he'd do one of those insane sudden full heals and I'm back to fighting a full up and fresh Paladin. Finally I was able to burn him out however at the end of it I was totally spent and hanging on by a thread with nothing by cool down tickers spinning.

The greatest strength of your typical PvP playing Paladin is their uncanny ability to simply not die. In an Arena situation it can be easy to concentrate on killing the Pally while his partner(s) rip you apart. Whenever you run up against one of these guys recognize that they almost never go down quickly or easily. Adjust your playing style to a longer, more drawn out match and you'll be in much better shape. If you think you're going to run out and unleash a load of hell on one of these guys they will simply smile at you, bubble up, heal out and then wipe the floor with you as you wait for all your cool downs.

Prepare for a long fight, keep them off you, keep your pet on them and you can and will wipe that smug look off his face!
