So you just dinged Level 10 and you finally got Druid Bear Form! Good work! Now, how the heck do you play as a Bear? There some fundamental changes, obviously, in the playing style from your humanoid form vs. your new bear form. This is not the first time youll run across this as a Druid for when you get Aquatic, Cat, Travel, Flight, Moonkin and Tree forms you will need to learn a whole new style of play. Sounds tough but its not and it is so worth it! So lets take a very basic look at how to play as a Bear
A couple of housekeeping points hereThe first thing youll want to do is go ahead and practice dancing in your Druid Bear Form (/dance). This will be an important social interaction in the game (not really) and is the primary source of comic relief when everyone is sitting around in a group waiting for the healer to get there. Secondly you will notice that the perspective on your computer screen is a little different. You may need to adjust the viewing angle (right click and hold then drag up or down) a little bit. Run around for a minute to get the idea and feel of the new viewing angle.
Now up at the top of your screen youll see that your blue mana bar had turned red. That is now your Rage Bar. Rage is kind like the mana for Bear form. The more you get hit the higher your rage goes. Most of the moves you will use in combat cost a certain amount of rage. When you first get Bear youll only have a few Feral attacks you can use. You start with the following: Growl which makes taunts creatures and enemies to attack you (a.k.a. aggro), Attack which is your most basic attack and Maul which is a heavier attack.
For your first fight in bear approach something a level or two below you to practice on. Target this hapless creature and approach from a distance while keeping an eye on the Growl icon. Once that icon brightens you are within range for growl. Click that and youll see your target come running at youyou have successfully taunted your first creature. As that creature approaches click on the attack button to turn it on. Once your target is in range your Druid will begin hitting it. Nice! Now watch your rage baras you get hit the rage will build until the Maul attack is available. Once it is you can click on it and watch the big hit! At level 10 just wash-rinse-repeat until the mob is dead.
The big benefit of this form at low levels is the armor boost that helps you live longer as a young character. As you level youll get all sorts of new Feral abilities that will make your Druid a shear terror on the battlefield!
